Review by Sloof: Well, well, speaking about surprises, Aanod surely is! Haven’t heard of the band before, but the brutal force that blew my speakers is welcomed with open arms! The band is from France and they play Metalcore but in a very convincing way! Only 7 tracks feature this EP but they are capable to satisfy me from the very first second. I’m not really into the Metalcore style but if things are brought well, and they pay attention to details and fury, I occasionally enjoy those moments. Bands like Betraying The Martyrs, Bring Me The Horizon, Beartooth and Of Mice & Men have the capability to persuade me to go and see their shows. I guess that’s suitable for Aanod from now on as well.
‘Yesterday Comes Tomorrow’ is their 2016 EP and you will hear a lot of things going on! Excitement all over, passion in every song and with a good production, I can only congratulate these guys for this wonderful disc! A lot of melody in between the core parts can be found in the track ‘Pariah’, which is a very suitable song that will have a mass effect at live gigs. Vocals in different harmonies, varying from melodic to brutal, but all in a perfect balance. For some reason I had In Flames in my head, as this band has the same solid guitar layer but of course in a totally diverse musical direction.
Aanod can be considered as an excellent Metalcore band from France, and perhaps they are standard-bearers of their country! Final words? Bien fait et toute la chance dans le futur! https://www.facebook.com/AanodOfficial
My rating: 88/100 (Good in its own genre, recommended for those hooked on it)
